Some days...

Ever have those days when you friggin feel like super mom? Like, it's mid-afternoon... there are no dishes in your sink, dinner is cooking away in the crock pot, the laundry is drying, the house is NOT a disaster area for once, you and your munchkin are dressed - not just in PJs but ACTUAL clothes....

Well, here they are somewhat rare. I LOVE going to bed feeling like a rockstar, enjoying how "easy" the next day is going to be based on everything I got done, etc.

....And then you sleep through your alarm and realize you have 20 minutes to take the dog out, get ready, wake the hubby and make sure he gets ready, get the munchkin ready, get breakfast put together and get out the door so you don't completely miss the pediatrician appointment.

Managed to scrape together apple slices and milk, jumped in the car and let him eat on the road. He later spilled the remainder on the floor of the doctor's office. Yup, we were that total shit show of a family LOL

That was us the other day. We made it to the office just a few minutes late but ended up doing paperwork for another half hour so don't feel TOO terribly bad about that. And the pediatrician was awesome. So not a terrible day.

Though after we left there we went to get an allergy test for Andrew and to pick up Echinacea against the looming colds we're feeling and ended up getting home late and scrambling to keep up with everything before bedtime. After we put Andrew to bed, looked around and didn't want to do ANYTHING, we just grabbed beers and headed to our bedroom for a FRIENDS marathon.

Can't win 'em all ;)

Hubby's Golden Birthday!

Well, my hubby had his Golden birthday today... and is currently in class, poor guy. But we made a weekend of it!

Friday we went out for dinner at one of our favorite places, Smokey Bones. It was my mother's birthday on Jan. 19th so we brought her with us and had a great time - munchkin had a blast eating out and people watching :)

Saturday we took Andrew to the children's Gasparilla Parade. It was the first time we've gone to any Gasparilla events and it was a lot of fun - definitely wanting to go the more events next year.... here's more about Gasparilla. We also went to a work dinner for Jesse and two of his co-workers that all had birthdays this month. Munchkin got lots of beads... hubby got lots of drinks ;)

Sunday was the biggest event. My mother came over to baby-sit and we took off for a hotel. We watched a movie in our room and just hung out and sipped some wine for a few hours. Then had a cab called to take us to the Theater - we had dinner upstairs with a show-themed menu (which was delicious) and then walked down to the theater just before show time. We saw Book of Mormon which was fabulous! SO funny!
Afterward we went to Ciro's Speakeasy for a cocktail and then retreated back to the hotel.
In the morning we sat by the river and ate breakfast before sprawling on the bed and watching cupcake wars until check-out haha!

Happy birthday, hubby - you are wonderful <3

Little man is TWO

It's kind of funny, my mom and I were talking the other day about how it seems like he should be turning 3 -- he's just so big! Other two year olds look tiny next to him.

Well, Andrew's grandparents were visiting over New Years and we decided to throw a birthday party for him that weekend so everyone could be there. We had gone to 'Noon Year's Eve' on the 31st, and then on the 4th we took him to the Children's Museum and had some cake.

On his ACTUAL birthday we three went to a bonfire and chili cook off at our church. We stuffed ourselves with chili, hot dogs, hot cocoa and smores. We warmed ourselves by the fire, listened to music, and let the little one run around to his heart's desire.

Also, here are some pics from Christmas - it was pretty low-key, just stuffed ourselves silly, watched the parade and opened gifts.

Phase One of our new place

We officially moved on November 23rd, but were able to get the keys on the 18th. We did the walkthrough and signatures and all that, and I snapped these pictures. It seemed really kind of small when it was so empty, and it was a mirrored layout of the model so it really threw me off at first. BUT now with our things in, it looks huge again.

And then we moved stuff in (my mother moved in with us for a few weeks until her new place was ready) and were totally overwhelmed. It felt like we were living in a hotel every day, hunting through boxes for things, organizing everyday to try to carve out a bit more space.... it was rough for all of us.

BUT I got a jumpstart on Andrew's closet organization...

The patio hasn't really changed. Planning on hunting down some wicker furniture, and maybe some sort of play area for Andrew (like a rubberized playmat and.... something. Any suggestions?)

I also was able to get Andrew's bath finished...

(Everything is from Target)

And we have an awesome playground just across the parking lot from our unit.

Will post the next phase soon! TTFN <3

Andrew's first road trip ~ a bit past due

Here is a photo dump of our road trip back in September for my cousin's wedding....

It was great- Andrew was a great little traveler as usual. We saw awesome stuff, relaxed a little, had a great time at the wedding, saw a satellite launch and spent some fun family time together.
We also experienced an allergic reaction with Andrew at the Space Center which lead to a huuuuge puking episode right before getting on the return bus, my legs got bitten like crazy at the wedding, Andrew caught a cold for the last half of the trip which he graciously shared with me (ha), and our AC broke and we shelled out $400 to temporarily fix it (it stopped working just in time for a humid 90 degree drive through the everglades lol) BUT still a great trip with a ton of fun memories. And nice to see most of my family from back in Minnesota.

The strange little crab who hung out right in front of our Key West hotel room

Little man all dressed up for the wedding - accidently ended up in the same outfit as the groomsmen!

At the Ernest Hemingway House.... where his love of cats began.

He became an expert in helping daddy push these (we stayed in a new hotel every night for about 6 days)

Breakfast on the balcony in Key Largo - my favorite memory of the trip

Cocoa beach....it was cold and windy

Ready!

Hugging daddy on the pier at hotel in Fort Pierce

This was actually the first picture we took, just about an hour or so after getting on the road
