Six and a half months!!

Time is going by so fast!!

"What's up with your baby? He now weighs a full two pounds and measures nine-plus inches. And this week, his eyes, which until now were developing under fused eyelids, start to open. Of course, there's not much to see in there, but if your baby spots a bright light (or hears a loud noise) near your belly, you may notice an increase in fetal activity. (“Hey, I'm in here, Mommy! Where’s the party!”) What accounts for that response? His brain is more developed and sophisticated."

Wearing one of my mama's awesome retro maternity tops lol :)

How far along? 26 Weeks

Maternity clothes? Some! Lately when I'm around the house I wear the bright blue or pink maternity shorts from my mom and either a cami or one of her maternity tops, but when we go out I often pick leggings or pants/ shorts with the belly band and a maternity or stretchy, long top. I do have a coupon though for clothes at Motherhood Maternity that expires soon so I'm thinking Friday will have to be a shopping day :)

Stretch marks? I do have a few which blows BUT rubbing on that stretch cream twice a day now so *fingers crossed* those will be the only ones!

Sleep: Sleep is good, though I often am still tired during the day.... I'm prolly not getting enough of something but geez it seems like I sleep for ages every night! P.s. My body pillow was the best investment ever. Also the mattress pad.

Best moment this week: Shopping spree for baby! We got lots of great loot (check the photos)! I'm adamant about not getting too many clothes cuz I know he is gonna outgrow em like that, but there are SO many cute outfits!!! We found the outfit he will be wearing at Jason and Jaime's wedding too-- it is the most adorable thing ever! Now if we could only find a baby fedora....

Miss Anything? Now that it is autumn/ football season I am seriously hankering for a beer/ hard cider. Almost cried the other day seeing Jesse eat REAL sushi while I ate the vegetarian kind, but oh well. I'm just looking forward to March when I can indulge my drinking and sushi cravings lol

Movement: ALL the time! I read that you should feel like 10 movements an hour around 28weeks... last night he moved/ kicked about 20 times in 30 minutes so I think we be okay haha. When I lay on my side though he can do quite the number on my lower rib. Otherwise I am very entertained by putting my phone on my belly and watching him kick at it.

Food cravings: Nothing too regularly. Apples are now out because I have nightmarish heartburn after eating them (sigh), and sure things sound good but not really craving anything routinely.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Hamburger kind of. I really want to make tacos and see how that goes, but Jesse's goulash and hamburger helper (even though it smells amazing and the noodles taste great) make me gag a tiny bit because I am just not a fan of the hamburger. I finally worked up the nerve to tell him this recently haha!

Gender: Boy!

Symptoms: It seems like heartburn is a fairly regular thing. Like it's always lingering in the back of my throat and when I eat something (like apples) it goes crazy lol. Otherwise, just general aches and obviously the tummy/ kicks are somethin to get used to.

Belly Button in or out? It's hangin on. Jesse says it fluctuates from almost poppin out to barely in. I haven't noticed much change from the first time I noticed it was crazy shallow. Looks pretty strange though. Especially with the scar tissue/ scars from my belly button piercings haha!

Wedding rings on or off? on - so surprised I don't have swollen fingers/toes yet... it actually almost seems as if they are often more loose than usual. I really hope it stays that way!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy/ feeling like a speeding train is headin towards me lol... I do feel very calm and peaceful most of the time though and nothing in the world feels/ has felt as good as stretched out with Jesse's hand on my bump. I love our little family and absolutely cannot wait to meet this little guy <3

Looking forward to: The pizza Jesse is currently bringing home, getting the furniture ordered this week, finishing buying baby stuff (really only have little stuff to get now), and getting insurance figured out so I can be cleared to fly so we can buy tickets to MN for next month!!!!! I am getting SO anxious cuz there are some GREAT deals going on at the moment!!! :-S

And onto the loot we found on our last shopping adventure....

Mom just had to get this hehe-- isn't it cute?

Andrew will be LIVING in onesies if I have anything to say about it lol

Waterproof pad for the mattress

Waterproof pads and two covers (one brown and one blue of course) for the changing pad

Organic surface wipes, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, hand sanitizer and laundry detergent for baby <3  Love this stuff!

The last one they had tee hee

Tiny baby socks!!! Carters is SUCH a great place!!

Crib bumper

Our new non-gender-specific diaper bag (that either of us can use rather than getting two). I LOVE it, it has insulated pockets for bottle, portable changing pad, a wipe-dispenser pocket, etc.

Free car seat cover

The mobile Jesse picked out. He was very adamant about it being super colorful and noise-making for development (Ah the perks of having a psychologist hubby/ baby daddy haha). He wanted a mirror on it too, but decided the one of baby's rattle will be enough.

Free nursing cover

Changing pad! Love that it has the three side enclosure, AND our dresser/ changing table has a border so it'll be enclosed on all sides. I like that :)

I just HAD to get this... have heard great reviews, and it was on sale!   Nap Nanny

Well, that's all for today folks! Expect another blog soon!

*if anyone is wondering, the free bottle, nursing cover, car seat cover and baby sling I have received were all thanks to some great offers I got with my first-ever purchase at Motherhood Maternity (see link above)-- it's been GREAT! Only paid about $30 (shipping) for over $140 worth of supplies!*

25 weeks!!! And an update or two :)

"Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching nine inches in length and passing the pound and a half mark. Under his skin, capillaries are forming and filling with blood and by week's end, air sacs (also lined with capillaries) will develop in his lungs, getting them ready for that first breath. Mind you, those lungs aren't ready for prime time just yet — but they are developing surfactant, a substance that will help them expand after birth. And speaking of breathing, your baby's tiny nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open, and his vocal chords are getting ready to roar."

How far along? 25 Weeks, holy geez can't believe we're getting this close already!! :)

Maternity clothes? still wearing most of my old clothes, but the belly band does come in useful with my jeans!! Also got some super 80s maternity wear from my mom haha! Some nice button ups and very comfy shorts and tops :)

Stretch marks? A few, using the cream twice a day but I fear they will be here to stay lol, oh well I guess I am now officially mommy-branded haha...

Sleep: still sleeping great-- even have night where I don't get up until 8 or 9 for the restroom!

Best moment this week: Figuring out how to put the car seat into the stroller lol!

Miss Anything? Mmmmm hard apple cider!!! And sushi. And lunchmeat! And LAYING ON MY STOMACH!! Ohhhh how I miss that last one!

Movement: all the time, it's fun to see him moving from the outside, or when he is on one side or the other and I look slightly lopsided. He is a strong boy already, sometimes his kicks make me jump!

Food cravings: I swear I have frozen yogurt or ice cream once a day, and apples with caramel dip are becoming more frequent in my diet. Took a blood sugar test for the first time in ages and it was very good so I feel okay about my little indulgences hehe

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really, just getting overheated.

Gender: Boy

Symptoms: Less ligament pain than before (knock on wood), but still get the occasional growing pains and definitely getting heartburn still. Tums are awesome :) Also if I reach too far or twist weird I get the creepiest feeling-- like something is pushing through my stomach muscles. It freaks me out!!

Belly Button in or out? Still in surprisingly! I imagine it won't be for MUCH longer though...

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy :) Will be happier once we have an income and once baby furniture arrives (which we are hoping to order soon! Just waiting for the glider to be back in stock), but it's really funny that I find myself always cradling and touching my stomach these days-- never thought I'd do that lol

Looking forward to: Furniture, getting Jesse's last paycheck so we have a bit of money around, and buying more baby stuff! Babies R Us is my new favorite place hehe

We've also been slowly acquiring baby goodies, here are some pics!

Folding in baby's room

Sleep sack from Grandma Jane <3

Swaddle pod from Grandma Jane

Sorted all the kid's books we have and these are what we are expecting to use in the next year or so. Plenty of Dr. Seuss, and Golden books and some oldies my mom passed down to me :)

We bought this pack the other day-- love it! Shampoo, soap, diaper cream, lotion, oil....

Got some wipes ready for the warmer when baby gets home

Dishwasher basket
And here is the newly completed Elephant Shelf!!! :-D

Hoping to order furniture soon, so we will be sure to post before and after pictures of all that jazz too :) We found THE cutest swinger/ bouncer and play pack at Babies R Us, as well as a lot of other super cute touches-- can't wait to have the room completed! <3

Nursery progress- curtains, etc

Just an update with some photos of what we have been up to with the nursery lately....

Put up the cute curtains
Tied blue ribbon around the door and a silencer of sorts :)

Tied the curtains back with ribbon and secured them with hooks on the sides of the window...
Put stuff back in, and made the little play area beneath the window.
Filled the bookcase with random stuff and started hanging some baby things
We also have been slowly but surely growing our collection of stuff we need lol:

Wipe warmer and grooming kit from Jesse's cousin Lexi :)

Found and set out the christening gown, really important to me and  very old <3

Thanks to Ken and Norine-- Jesse's parents, we were able to buy all the car stuff (found an online baby sale at Target hehe)... thus the shades...

Baby mirror

And the car seat and infant head protector.

Also here is the stroller we bought off of Craigslist for $40! Score!!

Well, that's all for now. We will keep you all updated as we collect, haha :)

24 weeks!

"Your baby weighs one and a half pounds, gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. Those little ears of hers are getting sharper and can hear very loud sounds, from a yapping dog to a jackhammer. Also by now, that fabulous face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Is your baby a brunette, a blonde, or a redhead? Actually, right now her locks are white since there's no pigment yet."

 How far along? 24 Weeks

Maternity clothes? Some, though I am finding that most of my regular clothes work pretty well... for now at least haha

Stretch marks? A few have taken up residence. I spose it serves me right for neglecting the coconut butter lol

Sleep: Got up 3 times last night! I have good and bad nights....

Best moment this week:  Finishing painting baby Andrew's room!! :-D

Miss Anything? Cider. I keep seeing stuff for Oktoberfest down here and am so bummed I cannot participate :-/

Movement: more & more each day!

Food cravings: Lately Ice cream has been eaten every day. I really want a second helping tonight but am trying my best to refrain!! I haven't started yoga or swimming yet so I still need to watch what I am eating!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nah

Gender: Boy

Symptoms: Occasional leg cramps, some lower back achiness, and feel as though I am about to topple over sometimes as Andrew's new favorite spot is curled up RIGHT at the edge of my belly.

Belly Button in or out? It's hangin on.... not quite flat yet but soooo close

Wedding rings on or off? On... feeling loser than usual. Weird!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Really kind of mirroring the wedding day... I have been very calm and peaceful lately. Jesse and I have also begun swimming laps daily so I usually need a nap during the day but it also helps with being happier I think :)

Looking forward to: Getting more done in the baby's room!!! :-D

Nursery progess- painting!!

So we spent the weekend painting baby Andrew's room! We bought all the paint and supplies thanks to Andrew's godparents Kyle and Christina's shower gift, and then Saturday we taped out and put down the drop cloth. Later that day we did the big painting and some touch ups. Sunday we painted the trees and bookcase, and now all the painting in the room is done! Here are some pics of the progress:

First we taped out the borders and trees...

then we painted the big stuff
Not excited to wear a mask for this long lol

Painted the bookcase and took off the tape trees and borders... looking cool!

Added the lines on the birch trees

Cut a sponge into leaves and made the leaves

added some decor to the bookcase

added birds from a stencil we made...

My mom painting birds
Done painting!! We love it! :)

Were thinking about three more additions of the elephant theme for the decor:
2.) Elephant night light
3.) Print for the back of the door

Aaaand maybe these to spell out his name on the front of the door: So cute!
And this in blue.

Okay, time for bed before I find MORE things to fill the room with, haha!
